Master’s Thesis submission and defence schedule

Submission:

Students will distribute their theses to the examination committee (in printed form if this is requested by teachers, plus an electronic copy for the coordinator of studies).

Date of the oral defence:

The oral defence will be open to the university community. It will necessarily take place in accordance with the dates and deadlines established for such purpose by each of the three universities involved in the Master’s programme, as follows:

• Period for the submission of MA-thesis registration form (to be sent by the student to the iMAES Coordinator):
  • 16/01/2023-22/01/2023 (for MA-theses to be defended in February)
  • 24/04/2023-02/05/2023 (for MA-theses to be defended both in July and September)
• Period for the submission of MA-thesis defence form (to be sent by the supervisor to the iMAES Coordinator):
  • 22/01/2024-26/01/2024 (for MA-theses to be defended in February)
  • 20/06/2024-26/06/2024 (for MA-theses to be defended in July)
  • 24/07/2024-02/09/2024 (for MA-theses to be defended in September)
• Deadline for the submission of the draft of the MA-thesis for the supervisor its final revision:
  • 21/01/2024 (for MA-theses to be defended in February)
  • 21/06/2024 (for MA-theses to be defended in July)
  • 26/07/2024 (for MA-theses to be defended in September)
• Period for the submission of the MA-thesis (the final draft of the ‘TFM’ is uploaded to the online system by the student through his/her ‘Secretaría Virtual’):
  • 25/01/2024-01/02/2024 (for MA-theses to be defended in February)
  • 27/06/2024-07/07/2024 (for MA-theses to be defended in July)
  • 01/09/2024-07/09/2024 (for MA-theses to be defended in September)
• Period for the submission of supervisor’s assessment form:
  • 24/01/2024-31/01/2024 (for MA-theses to be defended in February)
  • 28/06/2024-05/07/2024 (for MA-theses to be defended in July)
  • 01/09/2024-08/09/2024 (for MA-theses to be defended in September)
• Official oral defence dates (to be announced necessarily after upload)
  • USC official calendar: Period of TFM defence: First Period (01/02/2024 – 21/02/2024), Second period (18/06/2024 – 19/07/2024); Second period (September): 02/09/2024 – 16/09/2024

Summing up the steps:

1. Registration form: the student sends it to Coordinator (I want to do this with this supervisor)
2. Defence form: Supervisor sends it to Coordinator (Here is the panel that will evaluate it, day X, place Y)
3. Assessment form: Supervisor sends it to Coordinator (the supervisor´s final seal; deadline: seven days before actual defence)
4. Upload: students do this in their ‘secretaría virtual’ (deadline in early February, July and September)
5. Actual defence (a little later in February, July and September)
6. (Optional) The student uploads thesis to the public repository.
