ELC seminars are intended for members of staff and MA and PhD students at Departments of English and, more generally, for anyone interested in linguistics.

Brief profile: Holger Diessel is Professor of English Linguistics at the University of Jena (Germany). He holds an M. A. (1995) in Linguistics from the University of Buffalo and a PhD. (1998) in Linguistics from the same university; in 2002 he completed his Habilitation thesis at Leipzig University and Max-Planck Institut for Evolutionary Anthropology. In 2004 he was appointed Professor of English Linguistics at Friedrich-Schiller-Universitaet Jena. Holger Diessel’s main research interests lie in the domain of cognitive linguistics, linguistic typology, grammaticalization, and construction grammar.
